Information about the life and work of M.Gabdullin

Hero of the Soviet Union, Guard Colonel of the Reserve, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Gabdullin was born on November 15, 1915 in the village of Koisalgan, Zerendinsky District of the Kokshetau Region.

During the Great Patriotic War, he took part in the heroic defense of Moscow as part of the legendary Panfilov division. The name of M. Gabdullin is forever inscribed in golden letters in the pages of our history.

On January 30, 1943, Malik Gabdullin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

Malik Gabdullin is the only one who has combined two high titles — Hero and Academician.

After demobilization from the ranks of the Armed Forces in June 1946, Malik Gabdullin worked as a deputy director of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences, and from November 1948 as a director of this institute.

In July of 1947 M.Gabdullin defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: "Problems of scientific research of the Kazakh epic"Kobylandybatyr", and in 1959 he was awarded the academic title of Doctor of Philology.

In 1959 M.Gabdullin was elected as a full member of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.

Since 1963 M. Gabdullin worked as a head of Department of Folklore of the Institute of Literature and Art named after M.O. Auezov.

M.Gabdullin’s literary activity began in 1938. During this time, more than a hundred of his articles on certain issues of Kazakh folklore and literature were published in newspapers and magazines of the republic. Malik Gabdullin is the author of a number of books such as "Kazakh literature" (textbook for the 8th grade of the Kazakh school, "Kazakh folklore" (textbook for pedagogical institutes, "Parents about raising children", "Folklore and Literature", "Oral poetry and literature" (textbook for optional study of Kazakh literature in VIII). In collaboration with T. Sydykov, the monograph "Kazakh heroic epic" was written and published, for which he was awarded the state prize named after Sh.Ualikhanov, a number of articles about the work of famous Kazakh writers, research on issues in the field of pedagogy.

Malik Gabdullin is a writer who immortalized the names of front-line comrades in history, wrote the chronology of military events, with his knowledge reached the heights of the academic degrees of doctor, professor, academician, was awarded the high award of the Hero for his heroic deeds. An outstanding son of the Kazakh people, an example of humanism and civicism, a statesman three times elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, named a mentor of teachers. Unrivaled personality.

Malik Gabdullin died on January 2, 1973. Streets are named in the memory of Malik Gabdullin in the cities of Almaty, Astana and Kokshetau. Memorial plaques were installed on the houses where he lived and worked. A museum has been opened in the city of Kokshetau.
